Wedding Wednesday: Engagement Photos

A few weeks ago, I did a few Instagram polls to determine what kind of content you’d like to see hit the pages of the blog. Wedding content was amongst the highest voted topics so I thought I’d jump aboard the #WeddingWednesday trend and share a few images we really love from our recent engagement session.

Let me first of all say, our photographer, Jason Crocker, is one of the most talented photographers I’ve had the pleasure of working with. Besides being just overall really freaking cool, he is so talented and instantly put us at ease. We wanted our photos to really capture our life out here on the East Coast, so we opted to have some taken at our favorite beach spot in Greenwich then travel into Manhattan for some city shots. It just felt like us, since we spend so much time in both places.

To be honest, I was nervous about engagement photos. Dave & I both wanted the photos to feel organic, like “us”and sometimes they end up a little rigid, or posed. Jason instantly relieved our fears within all of 5 minutes of shooting. Every “pose” he had us do felt so natural and as we traveled into the city, Dave & I just kind of did our own thing while Jason caught us in our natural habit… while of course making sure we had optimal lighting 🙂

One of these will soon be sent out as our save the dates!!

I’m excited to share details here & there of our wedding planning process. Let me know if you have any tips!

I hope you all have a lovely Thanksgiving holiday & if you’re traveling like we are, safe travels!

Cheers

Three Thrills by Thursday

Has anyone else been thrown off all week? I woke up Tuesday morning, thinking it was Wednesday & my days have been mixed up ever since. But we’re here! Thursday! Finally.

one.

Tuesday night I took a calligraphy class with the very talented Crafted by Anamarie. I have always loved calligraphy & thought it would be a fun girls night. Anamarie is so talented & incredibly helpful throughout the entire class. While I have a lot of practicing ahead of me, the letters are starting to build muscle memory, so here’s to hoping for a lot of lovely lettering in the next year! She also teaches chalkboard lettering classes as well. You can catch her in NYC or Stamford. Sign up here, you won’t regret it.

two.

I think part of my day-of-the-week mix up can be attributed to not getting a great night of sleep. Sleep is such an important factor regarding our health & wellbeing but let’s face it, sometimes eight hours just can’t happen. Here are ways to make it through those long days after a bad night’s sleep.

three.

Truth be told, the saying of “A Sunday Well Spent, Brings A Week of Content” really hits home for me. I love nothing more on Sundays to be in the kitchen, cooking, prepping food for the week or (embarrassingly enough) reorganizing the cabinets. It brings me a sense of solace. While I plan meals for the week, Sunday’s meal is usually a game time decision. Ravaging through odds & ends of what’s leftover married to a few of my kitchen staples. This week, we ended up with quite a delicious pizza. Plum & Prosciutto. I’m sharing the recipe (I use that term loosely as I admittedly never measure anything) below.

Plum & Prosciutto Pizza

What You’ll Need:

Stonefire Naan Bread
Fresh Mozzarella
Gruyere
Prosciutto
3 Plums (I used three smaller, European plums)
Arugula
(teeny bit of) Balsamic Glaze (I made my own, but this one is great to keep in your cupboard)

How To:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Place naan bread onto baking sheet and add sliced mozzarella onto naan. If you don’t have access to fresh mozzarella, shredded would work, too. Grate some gruyere over top of the mozz and place in the oven for the cheese to melt, about 5 minutes.
  2. Remove pizza from oven and add quartered or halved plums (depending on size) as well as a few slices of prosciutto. Place back in oven for 10-12 minutes.
  3. Once the cheese is nice & melted, remove pizza from oven and sprinkle with balsamic glaze. Add arugula to the top of the ‘za and…
  4. Enjoy!

Cheers!

Three Thrills by Thursday

Happy Thursday, babes! I honestly cannot catch a grip on just how quickly time is moving. Autumn is definitely settling in our here on the east coast and though it’s very welcome, I’m still holding onto hopes of an indian summer (preferably a weekend, mother nature, if you’re reading!)

First thrill this week is just an overall general update… My Mexico trip, for my dear friend’s bachelorette, will go down in history as one of the greatest trips of all time. See Instagram for Mexico photos as there are too many fabulous ones to post. Otherwise, see below for a quick insta- roundup.

My second thrill this week, admittedly, is something I’m a little late to the game for: Trunk Club. For those of you who are in my boat, Trunk Club gives you a personal stylist who, after getting to know your style, sends you a trunk of hand picked items. I was so skeptical because half the time I can barely pick out clothes for myself. Sara, my stylist, hit it out of the park because my trunk was amazing! I wish I would have known about this in college, too! I am so addicted and who doesn’t want to come home to a surprise new wardrobe every few weeks? Sign me up! If you’re interested, click here!

Lastly, I’m gushing over a beautiful, affordable new jewelry brand *heart eyes* Shashi. Based out of NYC, these pieces are great to pair with every day attire but also are great to dress up that LBD on date night. I love the tassels- they are so fun. I also love this line because they make awesome gifts.

Cheers!

MDW Recap

Welcome back to the real world, friends. I hope you all had a lovely Memorial Day Weekend. I skipped out a bit early to head to Connecticut for the long weekend and I’m sure glad I did. The sun was shining, the water was wonderful and the company wasn’t too bad either.

First and foremost, I MUST inform you all about one of the most underrated mobile ‘destinations’ in Stamford. The Brunch Box. At the corner of Atlantic & Tresser, this is a breakfast-to-go you won’t want to miss. Of course, I tried the bacon, egg & cheese on a portuguese bun. Out of this world. Also known for homemade granola and out of this world pierogis. I cannot recommend enough!!

Another recommendation I must add is Lorca. I initially stumbled on this gem on a hot day looking for something to quench my thirst but everything I’ve tried is beyond impressive. The London Fog Tea Latte (over ice on a hot day) is incredible and if you’re in the mood for a nibble, try the quiche of the day. There’s even a few baked goods if you have a sweet tooth.

Over the weekend we took a quick trip into the city, strolled through Central Park

Stopped for a drink at Sarabeth’s

and ventured over to Williamsburg for Smorgasburg (GO!) for dinner. I had the greatest fresh fruit ice pop from people’s pops before we headed over to the Whythe Hotel rooftop for drinks… and a view.

Though I have a love for the city, I was happy to spend a lot of time outside on the water or by the pool.

We even squeezed in a little time to kayak, which I took the liberty of calling my ‘workout’ for the weekend. Hey, it’s technically vacation, right?

My own personal mixologist whipped up a few cocktails which were thoroughly enjoyed by the fire overlooking the water. I also whipped up some homemade guacamole which I’ll be sharing the recipe later this week.

Date night post water taxi.

As all great things do, the weekend had to roll to an end and off to the airport I went.

I hope during your weekend you took some time to think about the men & women who have sacrificed so much to keep our beautiful country free.

Cheers!

PS. HOW ABOUT THOSE CAVS!? #CLEVELAND!!!!!

Happy Birthday, B & B!

One year ago I began this little adventure known as Bliss & Bellinis. I embarked on this endeavor to take me out of my comfort zone (which it certainly did) and find another enjoyable hobby. Though my posting, like life, hasn’t always been consistent, it is something I truly enjoy.

This week, I’m doing a photo update. When I forget these photo updates, you can always follow me on

Beautiful spring blooms right in my apartment

Dave has recently taken a job in Connecticut so I’ve gotten to spend a little time on the coast, which I can’t complain about.

Red roses are a necessity at a Kentucky Derby Party, with the greatest ‘American Pharaoh’ punch

A little sweet treat from Sweet Moses

Weekend jet setting. My favorite.

If Cinco de Mayo isn’t enough excuse for a cocktail, join me in celebrating Bliss & Bellini’s birthday!

Cheers!
