Quick Trip to Beverly Hills

Last week, I popped out to LA for a quick work trip. The trip was very quick but I did score a few free hours in Beverly Hills to play. While I’m certainly no west coast expert, here are a few places I recommend if you travel like I do, and need a few suggestions.

Olive & June

If you’re looking to treat yourself, I highly recommend getting a mani/pedi at Olive & June. Inside, the place is so simply chic it’s easy to unwind during your services. The ladies at the BH location were fantastic & are nail art experts. Since I was still rounding out client meetings and additional weddings, I opted for a simpler nail art experience.

Sugarfish

Lunch at SugarFish is a MUST. Hands down, the best sushi I’ve ever had. Choose one of the pre fixed menu options (I did the Trust Me Lite) & you won’t be sorry. In hindsight, go hungry & try as much as you can, because honestly, every bite was incredible.

Shopping on Rodeo Drive

Besides the fact that Rodeo is one of the most beautiful streets anyone could want to shop on, the stores are so fantastically staged; just the site of it is gorgeous. Not to mention, everything is more charming with palm trees.

foyer into Ralph Lauren

The Beverly Center is awesome for additional shopping & I also hit up the and The Grove for a quick lunch between meetings on Tuesday in between meetings.

Ladurée

While Ladurée this isn’t a west coast novelty, I can always go for
a macaroon & champagne as a mid-afternoon snack.

In-N-Out

The second I found out I was heading to LA, friends began to make me promise I’d try In-N-Out. While I 100% understand the hype and it was truly delicious, I don’t think any burger joint can top Swensons.

La Scala

Old school Beverly Hills, highly recommend the chopped salad.  Good place to see & be seen.

I also took a quick stroll down Melrose, which is cool area to explore. Very eclectic & chic.

What are your favorite LA spots? Where should I make sure I get to next time?

Cheers,

Friday: Busy Life Update

Happy Friday! So I haven’t fallen off the face of the planet..though it feels that way. The past two weeks have been absolute, yet perfect, chaos.

Two weeks ago kicked off the beginning of what we’ll refer to as “wedding season.” I use quotations because this year, my wedding season consists of four weddings, in three weeks. For me, all of which have been in Ohio (yay home!)

Marcella, my little in Kappa Alpha Theta & one of my dearest friends, was the first to kick off these wedding festivities with her now husband, Dan. Their wedding was absolutely stunning as all of us twelve bridesmaids wore gold Amsale gowns with hues of purples in our bouquet, groomsmen’s vests and reception colors.

Last weekend Dave & I had to divide and conquer two weddings. Dave attended our friends, John & Ashley’s wedding in beautiful Greenwich, Connecticut while I flew to Akron to be the Maid of Honor in Alex’s wedding. Alex & her husband Brandon said their I Do’s in the most beautiful church in downtown Akron, St. Bernards & at their reception, the dance floor kept going even after the music had stopped. What a celebration! I was even able to surprise her when my MOH speech ended with an Ice, Ice Baby personalized rap. Her face was TOTALLY worth it.

After Al’s wedding, I flew to LA for a quick work trip but managed to squeeze in a little “me” time. More to come on that next week. On the wedding front, I’m so happy to say everything is moving along swimmingly. I even found my wedding dress! It’s so true what they say, “when you know, you know.” I couldn’t have been happier to work with the lovely ladies of Brides by the Falls.

To wrap up wedding season, for my third and final wedding, I’m flying to Columbus this morning to celebrate my friend, Lauren, who I met dancing with Ashland Regional Ballet. Over the years, I’ve seen her in a lot of tutus but I cannot wait to see her in a wedding gown!

Lots of great travel content coming your way next week!

Cheers

Three Thrills by Thursday

Happy Thursday, babes! I honestly cannot catch a grip on just how quickly time is moving. Autumn is definitely settling in our here on the east coast and though it’s very welcome, I’m still holding onto hopes of an indian summer (preferably a weekend, mother nature, if you’re reading!)

First thrill this week is just an overall general update… My Mexico trip, for my dear friend’s bachelorette, will go down in history as one of the greatest trips of all time. See Instagram for Mexico photos as there are too many fabulous ones to post. Otherwise, see below for a quick insta- roundup.

My second thrill this week, admittedly, is something I’m a little late to the game for: Trunk Club. For those of you who are in my boat, Trunk Club gives you a personal stylist who, after getting to know your style, sends you a trunk of hand picked items. I was so skeptical because half the time I can barely pick out clothes for myself. Sara, my stylist, hit it out of the park because my trunk was amazing! I wish I would have known about this in college, too! I am so addicted and who doesn’t want to come home to a surprise new wardrobe every few weeks? Sign me up! If you’re interested, click here!

Lastly, I’m gushing over a beautiful, affordable new jewelry brand *heart eyes* Shashi. Based out of NYC, these pieces are great to pair with every day attire but also are great to dress up that LBD on date night. I love the tassels- they are so fun. I also love this line because they make awesome gifts.

Cheers!

Bliss & A Birthday Cocktail

Today I’m sharing a delicious cocktail recipe that you should treat yourself to in honor of my birthday- which is also today! Hey, any excuse for a cocktail, right? This Strawberry Moscow Mule is so refreshing and perfect if you’re spending a day by the pool (or wish you were doing that!)

Strawberry Moscow Mule

What You’ll Need:

2 shots vodka

1/2 shot lime juice

3-4 strawberries

Ginger Beer

Ice

2. Shake well.

3. Pour over ice and top off with ginger beer.

4. Garnish with a fresh strawberry.

5. Enjoy.

Cheers!!

Blackberry Fencehopper

In case you’re in need of a hump day treat, try a Blackberry Fencehopper. This sweet cocktail will have you feeling like you’re cooling down from the summer heat (don’t we wish?). It’s really easy just make sure you have a shaker and a muddler.

Ingredients:
(makes two drinks)

2 shots of vodka

1 shot fresh lemon juice

1 shot wildflower honey

8 fresh blackberries (and a few for garnish)

2 slices of lemon (also for garnish)

Seltzer

The How To:

1.  Combine lemon juice, honey and blackberries into a shaker. Muddle berries until completely crushed.

2. Add vodka and ice and shake vigorously for approximately 10 seconds.

3. Strain the mixture into two tumblers filled with ice and top off with seltzer.

4. Add a slice of lemon and some blackberries in for garnish and enjoy!

This and other great cocktails from Shake.

Cheers!

Meatballs, Markets & More

Happy Monday, friends! I hope you all had wonderful weekends. This weekend I was back in the lovely city of Pittsburgh, PA. Though we thought we had planned a somewhat “quiet” weekend, we were incredibly busy, laughed too hard and definitely stayed out way too late, but I suppose that’s what the weekends are for..

On Friday I couldn’t help but head back to Siena Mercato and up to Il Tetto (the roof) for some drinks and meatballs. Il Tetto offers tasty appetizers, 32 draft beers and a pretty beautiful view of the city.

Saturday, we spent an awesome morning down in the Strip District and bought some fresh fish that we later prepared for dinner- yum. We dined at Marty’s Market for breakfast which now I am completely obsessed with. I was in the mood for eggs but my eyes wandered to another table when I saw a waitress bring out an immaculate, decadent, delicious looking pancake. I ended up ordering just a single pancake and boy, am I glad I did. It was infused with cinnamon sugar butter. Wow. Later in the afternoon, Prince Charming and I took a bike ride around the city and wound up in Point State Park to cool off by the fountain. We ended the night at Jam on Walnut in Shadyside before dashing inside to avoid the rain.

On Sunday, we met a friend at Union Pig & Chicken for a quick lunch as he passed through the city. I can’t say I’m the biggest fan of BBQ so I opted for an heirloom tomato salad and fried chicken– both of which were to die for. If you do enjoy BBQ, this place is a must-try. The cafeteria style seating and repurposed wood adds a unique feel to the otherwise small dining room.

And as it continued to rain most of Sunday, we made a quick stop at Lowe’s for some greens…. Check back tomorrow for more details!

Have a great Monday, everyone!

Cheers!
