When I first moved to Connecticut and discovered beautiful downtown Darien, I was instantly in love. I actually worked just around the corner, off Post Road, so I would pass Darien Sport Shop on a daily basis. I never stopped because, well, I didn’t need any sports equipment. I had it in my head that it was just that, sports stuff only. I was seriously missing out. I can’t necessarily remember the first time I did go in, I’m pretty sure it was after a recommendation from a friend, but holy cow, was I amazed when I walked through those doors. The clothing is incredible. The shoes? Incredible. The Accessories? You get the picture. Darien Sport Shop carries anything you might need for any occasion. They also have the BEST gift-ables so it’s always the first place I stop when I need a housewarming, birthday or otherwise gift.
But let’s get to the really good stuff: the fashion. They inventory in this place is unreal. And the staff & stylists? Also unreal. They are so helpful and truly wonderful to work with. Don’t you hate when you know you need to find a specific style dress or item or just a certain ensemble that you have in your head? It’s likely that Darien Sport Shop has it, and if it’s not exactly what’s in your head, they have something that is close, and probably even better. They carry a ton of different brands, like a few of my favorite: Lele Sadoughi, Ralph Lauren, Vince, Theory, Loeffler Randall, Addison Bay, Ulla Johnson, and Sweaty Betty but I could go on.
For a little summer fun, I assembled three looks (it was hard to only pick three!) and am sharing them below.
Look 1:
I adore this dress for summer. The colors are perfect and the fabric is light & airy. Could be dressed up with heeled sandals but also perfect with flip flops (or bare feet ;))
Look details: Dress by Velvet (available in store only), straw bag options here, and here, and sandals.
Look 2:
This dress is perfect for any summer soiree. The floral detailing is gorgeous and the fabric is thick enough that you won’t have to worry about undergarments showing but not heavy enough to make you worried at a humid summer afternoon.
I truly die for these gorgeous shoes which have proven to be insanely comfortable.
Look details: Ralph Lauren Dress, pink bow heels, clutch option here.
Look 3:
Ok next up, this gorgeous structured orange dress. It was the color that initially caught my eye but I was worried about the fit. You can never trust a dress on the hanger…. Once it was on, I was in love. And of course I’m partial to a bigger skirt & a bow. This is what I love to call an “easy” dress- you could throw on sandals and head out to the farmer’s market or pair with heels for a dressier option.
Look details: Dress by Vince (available in store only), sandal option here, straw bag option here.
