Life Lately

this sweater is on sale for $40!

Happy November, my friends. As I type this update I am on a plane & thought it may be a good time to share some life updates. The past few weeks have been quite the whirlwind.

A few weeks ago, Dave & I took a quick trip to New Hampshire to enjoy the fall colors. In a serendipitous moment, we found joint winery and par three golf course and despite the 60% chance of rain all day, had the loveliest, sunny day playing a round of golf amongst the changing leaves and sampling wines from a local winery. I highly recommend checking out LaBelle Winery (& golf course) if you’re in southern NH.

My mom visited this past weekend which I was so happy about. It’s been three years since she’s been able to visit Connecticut and even longer since she’s been in NYC. I took off Friday from work so we could spend the day in the city, just walking around & exploring. My dad was always a big advocate of days like this; stopping into stores if something catches your eye and taking breaks to grab a tea (which is always best served with a small, shared treat) and he’d always say “treat mom to a nice lunch. Ladies deserve a nice lunch.” I think I did him proud. We dined at SugarFish for lunch, a favorite of mine and a place my sushi-loving mom has never got to enjoy. I think I’ve ruined her for any sushi produced in the state of Ohio.

Over the weekend we hung out in Connecticut and stopped by some of my favorite local spots like Colony, Lorca, and Café Silvium. I got a few questions after I posted the below photo on Instagram but my go-to order is an iced London Fog (which I occasionally refer to as a “Lorca-tea” because for the first few months of living in Stamford, I could not for the life of me remember the name of the mind-blowing tea drink) from Lorca. Truth be told, everything on their menu is exquisite, that just happens to be my favorite.

Yesterday mom & I both headed to JFK together to catch our respective flights. My mom, back to Cleveland and me, well to Frankfurt. In fact, I’m on the way there as I type this. This is probably a good time to tell you that over the last few weeks, I accepted & started a new job, hence why the blog has been a bit quieter; I’m still figuring out the balance. And while this trip is work related, I’m very happy to be back in Europe after a long, pandemic-driven hiatus.

If you’ve followed along for a while, you know I’ve been starting my days with the Five Minute Journal for quite some time and during each morning entry, the exercise ends with a blank space to fill in an affirmation. “I am….” I’ve been writing something along these lines most days: “I am full of creative energy and open to all opportunities that may come my way” so when I feel stressed about so much to do, I remind myself that I am quite literally willing it to happen and should take advantage of every single one coming my way. So here I am, just a long for the ride the universe has me on 🙂

I get back to the US later this week and leave the next day for a quick weekend trip. It’s domestic; any guesses? Oh, and I bought a new computer and promptly named her Stevie (yes, I assign all my tech devices names) which truly had me feeling like I was adulting. Something about making a big purchase like that.. I don’t know. That being said, this is my first official blog post with Stevie. I’m starting to gear up the blog for the holidays since I know many of you will be shopping early 🙂  Stay tuned!

Cheers,
