The Skincare Items I Tried (and Loved!) During Quarantine

It’s no surprise that hours spent working from home during a global pandemic helped all us realize we weren’t using our time in our best interests. Admittedly I had gotten a little lax in my skincare routine and with no commute, I had a bit of extra time to actually use some of the products that I’ve neglected in my bathroom as well as try some news ones.

So here we go! Here are the skincare products I tried and loved during quarantine:

Sunday Riley Good Genes – This is easily the BEST product I’ve ever used on my face. I can thank my friend Lexi, who is a consultant for the brand, for turning me onto it. This product is an all-in-one AHA treatment, powered by lactic acid, that clarifies, smooths, and retexturizes the appearance of skin. It’s gotten rid of a few pesky dark spots and honestly, is the single best product to get instantly glowy skin. If you decide to buy one thing from this list, this is the product I’d recommend. If, like me, you’re already a major fan of Good Genes, the Nordstrom sale is doing a bundle pack of the large size and a travel size for $114.

Brazilian Bum Bum Cream – Believe the hype. This body lotion product is amazing. It’s more of a cream, than a lotion, because it’s thick but super fast-absorbing. Helps tighten/ smooth the look of skin.

Coco Cabana Cream – This Coco Cabana cream (also by the makers of Brazilian Bum Bum Cream) is a bit lighter than BBB Cream but is also super fast-absorbing and will leave your body hydrated and sparkling. Also both of these scents are to die for!

CEO Glow– You don’t need to have super dry skin to incorporate an oil in your routine. This Sunday Riley product is another favorite of mine. It has advanced vitamin C, turmeric, and evening primrose oil, to brighten, hydrate, and leave skin glowing. I don’t use this product every single day but again, if you’re using a retinol, you need to be using a vitamin c product. This one in particular is great for nourishing and brightening your skin.

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask – This is an OG product in my bathroom. While it’s not a new try during quarantine, I definitely used it more often than I was pre-quarantine. Lately I’ve been using these exfoliating wipes, then applying the mask before I go to bed. I wake up with the softest lips. 100% recommend.

Laneige Water Sleeping Mask– This overnight, moisture-recharging gel mask quickly absorbs while you sleep to deeply hydrate skin. This is one of the only overnight masks I’ve used that I’ve woken up with visibly softer, hydrated skin.

Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen – Say it with me: SUNSCREEN! You should be wearing it. Every day. Even if you don’t go outside. I’m serious, even if you’re inside, in front of your computer busily typing away, you need it. This SPF 40 sunscreen is super light and absorbs into your skin upon application.

Herbivore Rose Hibiscus Hydrating Face Mist – This product was in the cutest little birthday box I received back in June. You can use it over your makeup, or after your cleanser before your moisturizer. Just spritz and lightly rub it into your skin to get a quick-fix glow.

Confidence in a Neck Cream – Face it. The majority of us spend the majority of the day sitting, hunched over in front of our computers like shrimp. (Picture it, you know I’m right!) You need to be using a neck cream. This also smells like a dream and helps greatly with fine lines on your neck & décolletage.

Versed Shortcut Overnight Facial Peel – I love this overnight mask for a gentle way to smooth and renew skin. No joke, you’ll wake up in the morning feeling like you have baby skin. Instant brightening and with such a great price tag, you won’t feel bad about adding this mask to your skincare collection.

The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid – A great alternative for this pricier option (which also works like a dream, I’ve tried it!) H.A. is super hydrating for your skin and known to decrease fine lines & wrinkles, increase firmness, and over an overall smoother texture.

SkinCeuticals Retinol – Ah, yes. Retinol. This has been the biggest game changer for me. I used retinol religiously before my wedding, as prescribed in my regimen by Dr. Nichols (the best derm, ever!! Free consultations- tell her I sent you!) but for whatever reason, fell off the bandwagon afterwards. Retinol promotes cell turnover and diminishes lines and pore size. Using it a couple nights a week has totally changed my skin. I use the .5 version but I’d suggest starting with .3 if you’re new to using a retinol in your nighttime routine.

Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Cleanser – Admittedly this is not a new try however this is the same cleanser I’ve used since my teenage years. It removes my makeup (not that I’ve worn much at all lately) while gently removing the day’s dirt and oil. Don’t waste your money on expensive cleansers, it’s not worth it!

SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic – With 15% vitamin C, this product protects against free radicals and just overall environmental icky-ness. Within a few days, my skin had a visibly noticeable glow. Use this product in the AM and especially if you’re using a retinol at night.

What are the skincare products you can’t live without? What should I try incorporating into my routine?

Cheers,
