A few months ago, queen Reese Witherspoon posted a smoothie recipe she’s been drinking for years. Bored and in quarantine, I decided to try it. Green juices often get a bad reputation. Usually viewed as bitter or the common phrase “tastes like grass”, I just couldn’t imagine Reese forcing down something that tasted absolutely vile. So, bottoms up- I gave it a try. Fast forward a couple of months and I’ve been drinking this almost every single morning since I first tried it. It’s filling, delicious (definitely not all tasting like grass) and packed with lots of good stuff for your bod. It does require a large blender (I used my Vitamix) but the recipe makes two servings so you’ll be set for tomorrow’s breakfast as well! I ended up loving this smoothie so much that sometimes I’ll be craving it and have the second helping for lunch or dinner!
What You’ll Need:
2 heads of romaine lettuce
1/2 cup spinach (usually I just put in a giant handful)
1/2 cup coconut water
1 whole banana, peeled
1 whole apple
1 whole pear
1 whole lemon, rind removed
ice
The How To:
- Combine romaine, spinach and coconut water and blend to create more space in the blender.
- Add your fruit and ice and blend until smooth.
- Pour into a glass & enjoy!
