Meatballs, Markets & More

Happy Monday, friends! I hope you all had wonderful weekends. This weekend I was back in the lovely city of Pittsburgh, PA. Though we thought we had planned a somewhat “quiet” weekend, we were incredibly busy, laughed too hard and definitely stayed out way too late, but I suppose that’s what the weekends are for..

On Friday I couldn’t help but head back to Siena Mercato and up to Il Tetto (the roof) for some drinks and meatballs. Il Tetto offers tasty appetizers, 32 draft beers and a pretty beautiful view of the city.

Saturday, we spent an awesome morning down in the Strip District and bought some fresh fish that we later prepared for dinner- yum. We dined at Marty’s Market for breakfast which now I am completely obsessed with. I was in the mood for eggs but my eyes wandered to another table when I saw a waitress bring out an immaculate, decadent, delicious looking pancake. I ended up ordering just a single pancake and boy, am I glad I did. It was infused with cinnamon sugar butter. Wow. Later in the afternoon, Prince Charming and I took a bike ride around the city and wound up in Point State Park to cool off by the fountain. We ended the night at Jam on Walnut in Shadyside before dashing inside to avoid the rain.

On Sunday, we met a friend at Union Pig & Chicken for a quick lunch as he passed through the city. I can’t say I’m the biggest fan of BBQ so I opted for an heirloom tomato salad and fried chicken– both of which were to die for. If you do enjoy BBQ, this place is a must-try. The cafeteria style seating and repurposed wood adds a unique feel to the otherwise small dining room.

And as it continued to rain most of Sunday, we made a quick stop at Lowe’s for some greens…. Check back tomorrow for more details!

Have a great Monday, everyone!

Cheers!
