Girls Weekend in NYC

Last weekend, my college roommate & BFF, Alex flew out to have a girls weekend. I had eagerly been waiting for this weekend from the moment she told me she booked her flight. She lives in Pittsburgh so I always look forward to time spent together; getting to catch up with her is just the best! We made plans to stay in NYC on Saturday night then venture back to Connecticut for the remainder of the long weekend.
Saturday morning we hopped the train to the city & checked into our hotel in TriBeCa. We were in desperate need of caffeine so we stopped by Sweet Moment for coffee, accompanied by the cutest little guys! I’d always assumed that because they were so cute, they wouldn’t taste good but they were phenomenal. Alex got the chocolate coffee and I got Thai. Once hunger set in, we decided to try our luck at Joe’s Shanghai, which has been on my bucket-list for months. There is almost always a wait at the original location but we thought we’d give it a shot. To our surprise, we were able to get in within 10 minutes. The original location is a teeny hole in the wall that you’d probably walk right past if you didn’t know to stop there. It’s communal seating so if you have a party of two, you may end up sitting at a table of six with 4 other strangers- a great way to scope out other menu items. Joe’s Shanghai is famous for their soup dumplings so of course we placed an order of those, spring rolls and the Shanghai fried rice. We were stuffed but as expected, it was out of this world.
After our late lunch, we decided to talk around, shop and explore. We headed toward Soho and eventually ended up at the Color Factory, which we had tickets for. It was so much fun and we were giggling the entire time through photo opps and through the different exhibits. The nice thing about the Color Factory is that they have fixed cameras around the venue so you can put your phone away, enjoy the exhibit and get your photos emailed to you through your own scannable card that you receive at the beginning.
We scheduled a late dinner so we stopped for drinks before at two fun place: Pegu Club & The Garrett. A little after ten, we headed to Palma for dinner. This was a place neither of us had been before and were so excited to have chosen that venue for dinner. The inside of the restaurant is reminiscent of an Italian farmhouse adorned with gorgeous blush garden roses & flowers everywhere. Truly stunning. In the back, there’s a convertible roof for warmer days and again flowers perfectly placed throughout. This is an awesome spot for date night or definitely a girl’s dinner.
Sunday morning we kicked off the day with a class at Dancebody, which is something I’ve wanted to try for months. It is a killer workout but so, so, so much fun. After class we brunched at Maman and just enjoyed walking around and chatting. We obviously had to pick up some banana pudding from Magnolia to save for dessert later that night.
What is your favorite thing to do when you have friends in town?
Wishing you all a long & luxurious weekend!
Cheers
